Opening of the 72nd session of the UNECE Committee on Forests and the Forest Industry

On November 18 the 72nd session of the UNECE Committee on Forests and the Forest Industry started in Kazan. The meeting was organized together with the Federal Forestry Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan. 

The agenda of the session was a capabilities assessment and consideration of ways of forest sector participation in conditions formation of "green economy" both in global and regional scale. During the meeting the following questions were discussed: 

 - innovative approach in the process of production and use of forest production; 

 - questions of forests resources and services assessment of the UNECE region; 

 - priorities regard of "green economy" during the development and realization of forest policy; 

 - strengthening of forest sector influence on development and welfare provision of society;

 - steady forest management as a method of climatic changes control.

Uspensky,  expert, participated in the session on the part of the Federal Budgetary Establishment “Saint-Petersburg Forestry Research Institute” (FBE “SPbFRI”).
