During the month of March 2015 the Federal Forestry Agency in conjunction with local agencies and subordinate organisations are marking the nation-wide Forestry Awareness Day, timed to coincide with the International Forest Day which is celebrated all over the world on the 21st of March. International Forest Day or Worldwide Day for the Protection of Forests was founded in 1971 and to this day is held annually.

February 19, 2015 the director of the Federal Budgetary Establishment “Saint-Petersburg Forestry Research Institute” Igor Vasiliev took part in parliamentary hearings in the State Duma of the Russian Federation. The hearing centered on the legal and economic aspects for improvement in efficiency as well as the development of the forestry sector of the Russian Federation. The session was transmitted as a live feed over the Internet.

The head of the FBE “SPbFRI” Vasilyev Igor Anatolyevich participated in the meeting of the Working group on steady forestry of the Russian-Finnish Intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation which took place on December 18, 2014 in the FAO " Russian Institute of Continuous Education in Forestry" (Pushkino, Moscow region).
14-19 декабря в г. Йоэнсуу (Финляндия) состоялась программа Европейского института леса «Школа молодых лидеров для российского лесного сектора». Цель мероприятия – повышение общей осведомленности специалистов лесного хозяйства. Программа разработана для слушателей в возрасте от 25 до 35 лет, обладающих опытом практической работы в области лесного хозяйства и лидерскими качествами.
On December 14-19 in Joensuu (Finland) the program of the European Forest Institute "School of young leaders for the Russian forest sector" took place. The purpose of the meeting was to increase the experts’ general actual knowledge of forestry. The program was developed for listeners aged from 25 till 35 years having an experience of practical work in the field of forestry and leadership skills.
