Ourth meeting of the UNECE / FAO Team of Specialists on Wood Energy

Head of the Research Department of Economic Research  SPbFRI O.I.  Vasilyev took part in the Fourth Working Meeting of the Team of Specialists of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on wood energy. The event was held May 17-19, 2017 in Durham, North Carolina, USA.

Specialists from Finland, Croatia, Germany, Russia, Estonia and the USA (representatives of state authorities, universities, non-profit and scientific organizations) took part in the Working meeting.

During the meeting, the participants developed a draft of the Comprehensive Work Program for 2018-2021, approved the procedure for including new members in the group, and considered the procedure for work on the Joint Questionnaire on Wood Energy (JQWE). Separate chapters of the collective monograph "The state of wood energy in Europe, the CIS and North America", which is being prepared for publication, were discussed and agreed upon.

The event formed an idea of the position of the official representatives of the forestry departments of Boreal Belt countries, who spoke in favor of strengthening the status of the northern forests as a strategic resource for the development of wood energy and one of the drivers of economic growth.
