SPbFRI developments actively put into practice to forest fire fighter

Forest fire tense situation created in the Trans-Baikal region in 2016 calls for the introduction of new high-efficiency developments to forest fire fighter. Therefore the SPbFRI received a request from the Aerial Forest Fire Center  and the National Forestry Agency of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Republic of Buryatia on the transfer of practical testing on extinguishing forest fires experimental sample screen from the fire special fire-resistant silica fabric. Fire screen was transferred to for the duration of the fire season this year for direct testing in the field staff of the Aerial Forest Fire Center.

The screen is used as a support band for the counter firing at extinguishing fires in Yeravninsky and Khorinsky areas of the Republic of Buryatia and showed good performance in various types of wood: pine, birch and larch forests with different types of underlying surfaces. Practice screen application showed that it can be used to stop the low, medium and high intensive fires.
