Saint-Petersburg Forestry Research Institute delegates took part in the 
International Forest Congress

(17-20 April 2014, Khabarovsk) Delegates of Saint-Petersburg Forestry Research Institute, Alexander A. Steptchenko, Deputy Director for Regional Development and Ivan K. Petrov, Head of International Technologies Science and Research Department, took part in the Far East International Forestry Congress “The Far East Forestry Development Strategy”.

Alexander A. Steptchenko made a speech on the subject “New Technology and Equipment in Forestry Management” on the first day of the Congress within the plenary session in the section under the title “Competitive Edge, Opportunities and Ways of Development of the Far East Federal District Forest Sector”.

Ivan K. Petrov took part in a discussion of issues concerning forest management and forest industry informational support.

Delegates of Saint-Petersburg Forestry Research Institute demonstrated the Institute scientific and research results within the framework of the VIII International Specialized Exhibition “Far East TEKHNODREV”. Visitors of the exhibition were presented the geo information system for the forest fire protection and forest management, and advanced forest restoration equipment.

The Exhibition and Congress have started April, 17 and lasted until April, 20, 2014. The Far East International Forest Congress “The Far East Forest Sector Development Strategies” is held with an active role of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, Russian Federal Forestry Agency (RFFA), World Wildlife Fund of Russia (WWF Russia) and the Far East Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
