Director of the Federal Budgetary Establishment “Saint-Petersburg Forestry Research Institute” takes part in parliamentary hearings in the State Duma of the Russian Federation

February 19, 2015 the director of the Federal Budgetary Establishment “Saint-Petersburg Forestry Research Institute” Igor Vasiliev took part in parliamentary hearings in the State Duma of the Russian Federation. The hearing centered on the legal and economic aspects for improvement in efficiency as well as the development of the forestry sector of the Russian Federation. The session was transmitted as a live feed over the Internet.

One of the main contributors was the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation - Head of the Federal Agency of Forestry Ivan Vladimirovich Valentin. In his report entitled: "Paths to improvement of efficiency and development of the forestry sector of the Russian Federation," Valentin touched on the question of reforestation and forest use, the protection of forests from fire, investment in lumber processing, the calculation of forest resources and rewriting forestry law. The Director of the FBE “SPbFRI” I.A. Vasiliev, along with several other heads of organizations under the aegis of the Federal Forestry Agency, were invited to the event to offer their expert support to the head of the agency.

The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Natural Resources, Environmental Management and Ecology Vladimir Kashin.
